When you cut, bend, or assemble metal materials then you have what is known as Fabcrications. The end result is usually formed out of sheet metal or structural steel. You might be familiar with the terms blacksmithing, boiler making or iron working which are the professions that use structural steel fabrications.
Fabricators begin creating their product by cutting the material using a combination of chiselling, shearing, or sawing techniques, a CNC cutter, or a handheld torch. Next, the fabricator will bend the material using a hammer or press brake. After the bending is complete, the fabricator will join the pieces of material together using welding techniques, riveting, fasteners, additional bending, or binding with adhesives. The fabrication processes usually involves a combination automation and human labour.
Developing the frames used in high rises and commercial buildings
Structural steel fabrication is a process often employed in the making of steel frames, which are used in building. Many buildings are constructed from a skeleton frame made of horizontal I-beams and vertical steel columns. These steel frames are positioned into a rectangular grid that will support the roof, walls, and floors of the building. This technique is used to form all sorts of structures, including skyscrapers.

Shindaiwa introduces its initial range of welder generators tailored for the UK market
While Shindaiwa welder generators may be new to the UK, the Japanese group’s products are well established in other countries. Beyond its home market, its sister company Shindaiwa Australia supplies customers in Australia, Singapore and Asian countries withwelder generators and generators selected from the manufacturer’s extensive range. The Japanese manufacturer also supplies items such as cut-off saws, pumps and lighting towers, as well as garden machinery brands like Echo and Kioritz, which have separate specialist distribution channels.
“In establishing Shindaiwa UK, it was logical for the group to draw on the Australian operation’s experience of selecting and tailoring products to suit different markets,” said Director Andy Munford, who previously worked for ArcGen Hilta. “Shindaiwa Australia began eight years ago by Keith Lucas.
“He originally imported Shindaiwa welder generators for the hire fleet of a company he founded based in Perth. Their popularity led him to create Shindaiwa Australia as a separate, dedicated sales operation. Keith is a Co-Director of Shindaiwa Ltd, along with Mark Stansfield.”
In July, Shindaiwa Ltd opened its offices near Wolverhampton, which give 6,500ft2 of office and factory space. Its central location close to the M6 motorway enables the business to supply customers nationwide.
The initial product line-up includes three compact welder generators, each selected for UK market requirements. The petrol engined ECO 165UK offers a welding range of 40-165A and single-phase 110V CTE output of 2.5kVA. The single-phase 3kVA-output model ECO 200UK has a diesel engine and gives a 5-200A welding range, while the diesel 300UK has a welding output of 35-300A and can provide a three-phase 415V supply at 8kVA, as well as single-phase 110V CTE 3kVA output. The ECO 300UK can also be fitted with options such as a Chalwyn valve and spark arrestor silencer. All machines have auto-idle, digital displays of voltage and operating hours, and are designed for very low noise levels. They can also be supplied in any colour, regardless of quantity.
“The 165UK and 300UK also incorporate an ECO mode, which is an enhanced form of auto-idle,” said Andy. “When the user re-starts a connected power tool after a period of inactivity, the engine will automatically sense the correct speed to provide the necessary power required, rather than immediately running at maximum revs before throttling back. This further reduces noise, and also gives lower fuel consumption, which are increasingly important environmental considerations.”
The initial product trio represents only the first stage of Shindaiwa Ltd’s plans for the UK and Eire market. “The second phase will be the introduction of larger welder generators, which will again be tailored for this market. These will be followed by a range of super-silent generators suitable for use in hire, construction, events and other markets. We will be talking to hirers and users to determine exactly what will best meet their needs, and we expect to have more new equipment to unveil on our stand at the Executive Hire Show in February.
“We began supplying our first welder generators in August, chiefly to hirers at locations the length and breadth of the country. The feedback has been extremely positive. Some orders have been from hirers that are deciding to target this market segment for the first time, detecting a new opportunity. General economic conditions might be challenging, but key industries such as petrochemicals and utilities that have large-scale temporary power equipment requirements for use during refurbishment shutdowns should remain strong. Hirers in the north east of Scotland also tell us that their order books for supplying equipment relating to oil rig maintenance are healthy. Business is essentially what you make it, and we are very confident about the future prospects for both our current range and our subsequent launches.”
Alan Guthrie is an editor for Executive Hire News which was launched in December 1971 to serve the developing tool hire industry. Alan reports on newly established Shindaiwa Ltd, which has introduced its initial range of welder generators tailored for the UK market.

Dubai property ?The Torch’ sets new world record
Dubai, UAE: Property in Dubai reached new heights this month as residential development ‘The Torch’ at Dubai Marina officially became the world’s tallest residential building.
Developed by Select Group, one of the largest private property developers in the United Arab Emirates, The Torch beat the Q1 Tower on the Gold Coast of Australia by just twenty five metres when its completion was announced earlier this month.
Designed by award winning architects Khatib and Alami, ‘The Torch’ rises 351 metres (1152 feet) into the Dubai sky. The tower has 86 floors containing a total of 676 apartments along with a gym, a sauna, a steam room and an eight level garage.
It is the only one hundred percent residential project ever to break the world’s tallest tower record; under Guinness Book of Records regulations towers must be made up of ninety percent or more residential units to be eligible for the title.
“The Torch, a defining landmark of Dubai Marina skyline, offering stunning views across the Jumeirah beachfront, is a sold out property and a testimony to Select Group’s continuing commitment to Dubai and the potential of its property sector as it gradually emerges from the shadows of the impact of the global financial crisis,” commented Mr. Rahail Aslam, CEO of Select Group.
“This is a milestone for the Group and we are proud to be contributing to the list of global firsts Dubai has achieved over the years. We would like to position The Torch as our tribute to this cosmopolitan city which despite the downturn in the real estate sector and fluctuations in the economy has shown resilience to weather the extreme economic downturn,” he added.
The Torch is the latest development to be completed by Select Group at Dubai Marina. Others include; The Point which was completed in 2009 and reaches a height of 125 metres with 27 floors and 188 apartments; and Botanica, a 41 floor development made up of 360 residential units.
Despite the difficulties faced by property developers during the global economic downturn, Select Group has reported their properties at Dubai Marina are already enjoying up to 85 percent occupancy this year.
Prices at The Torch start from US5,000 for a one bedroom apartment with a balcony and views spanning the length of the Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Beach.

LPG Equipment, Gas Welding – Usages and Safety Tips
The popular jewelry manufacturing procedure was already recognized for the use of gas welding in mid nineteenth century also, but only a blend of hydrogen and oxygen was used in the process as, together, they formed a very intense and hot blaze. It was the invention of acetylene at the end of the same century that shaped gas welding what it is today. Acetylene is a gas that is formed by the chemical grouping of water and calcium carbide; in gas welding, this amalgam may provide flames up to 4000 degrees Fahrenheit. Currently, it is pretty common to use a combination of acetylene and oxygen in gas welding to acquire a higher temperature of 6000 deg. F.
The advantages of gas welding include lower costs, mobility of LPG equipment transport and flexibility, compared to the use of electric set ups. Moreover, there is no difference in terms of performance since any metal can be welded, cut or heated using a gas welding tool on oxygen and acetylene. If you choose gas welding, ensure that cylinders need to be kept in a vertical order, and that the caps of valve should be in right place when the cylinders are not in use.
The cylinders are associated between them and the torch with all sorts of hoses, available in various sizes; one prominent mention here is that all hoses used in gas welding need to be marked with the kind of repair level they are meant for: light, normal, or heavy. When purchasing the LPG equipment, make sure that you know all the details for the rubber welding hoses. The user of Gas welding is exposed to the danger of combustion in the hoses and regulators; hence, daily valve tests are required in order to ward off flashbacks.
Some of the gas welding tools are specifically designed to curb flashbacks; which is acquired with the help of a flashback arrestor. This device is identical to a check valve, but it also includes a trap that cuts of the gas flow when flashback occurs; hence, arrestors are a must-have type of LPG equipment that is important for those who use gas welding equipments.
Gas Welding Safety Tips
To lift up gas cylinders, use the LPG equipments that are designed to perform that task.
Check torches and clean only using suitable tools.
While welding use blowback guard torches.
Always keep a watch on the LPG equipment and fix any leakages at all connections.
Check hoses for worn and leaks spots.
Keep fire extinguishers at handy places, at the welding site.
Keep cylinders and hoses away from flames, sparks, to avoid any holes on it.
Use a flint lighter to fire the flame in welder.
Use two-stage regulators whenever required.
Open cylinder valves very slowly when using a single-stage regulator.
During using a single-stage regulator, open only the acetylene cylinder valve 1/4 to 3/4 turn.
Keep the wrench in place. In this way you can close the cylinder easily and quickly in case of any emergency.

All About Mig Welding Wire
Why has my MIG wire gone bad all of a sudden?
“I’ve been using this MIG wire for the last six months without a problem”. “Now after having used many spools the wire its gone bad”. “What’s happened?
Sound familiar? The trouble here is that the person or company that you bought your MIG wire from cannot guarantee you quality.
Did you buy the cheapest stuff you could find? Ha-ha…As the saying goes, “he who buys on price, and price only, gets what he paid for”.
Sounds harsh but that’s the truth. Quite often you find end users happily welding away with their current brand of MIG wire. When all of a sudden they go and open up the next new pallet of wire that just arrived, slap it on the machine and the welds are all over the place.
Spatter, burn backs wire not feeding properly and so. What’s going on, they think to themselves. “Ahh, I know, it must be a worn contact tip”. So off they go and replace the contact tip with a new one. But no, sure enough same problem. “Well, it’s been a while since I change the liner”. So off they go and do that. Yet sure enough the same problem is still there.
They think to themselves, “well I’ve changes everything else, it can’t be the wire. It’s brand new and I’ve been using it for over six months without any trouble”.
This is such a common thing to come across in the welding industry, and it affects everyone throughout the world. Whether you’re in the USA, Australia, New Zealand…anywhere.
So what is it, what’s the problem?
The problem is quality.
The person who is supplying your wire can not guarantee you quality. But you think to yourself, it can’t be the wire, no way. I’ve been using this (xxxx) brand wire for ages. They are a huge massive company, they sell MIG’s, TIG’s all sorts of welding gear no way can it be the wire that’s giving me problems….can it?
The trouble is that unless you are guaranteed the quality of you welding wire your “up a creek without a paddle”, so to speak.
With so many people selling welding wire these days it is extremely hard to come by a quality wire. The majority of goods made in the world today come from China or India. With huge populations and low wages, they are the cheapest places to buy things from.
There are over three hundred manufacturers of welding wire in China alone. What does this mean to the quality of your MIG wire?
This means that if the brand of wire on the box is (xxxx) they are not the manufacture of it. You need to ask the sales person….ARE YOU THE MANUFACTURER OF THIS WIRE?
Because what happens behind the scenes is the company you bought the wire from has a big argument with their supplier in China or where ever. And they say stuff ya….well go next door and buy from them. Hey with over 300 manufacturers in China alone they can pick and choose who they like.
So they change their manufacturing supplier, and this happens all the time. But when they change manufacturer the quality also changes. That’s why your wire has gone bad. And that’s why they can’t guarantee you the quality.
Simple as that.
Each time they change their manufacturing supplier the quality changes as well. There is a huge difference in quality of wires.
Okay so what do I do now, which wire do I buy?
The secret is to buy a wire that is supported by the manufacturer. You need a manufacturer that has been producing quality welding wires for years and years so that they have the art perfected.
Did you know that there are general “quality” mig weldng wires and precision MIG wires? Which type of wire do you think that the big boys use? When I say that I mean vehicle manufacturers, earth moving manufacturers and so on, companies that use it by the tonne. What do you think they are after in a welding wire?
They are after:
o Precision o Reliability o Repeatability o Consistency o Quality o Accuracy
How much money would Toyota or Mitsubishi or Caterpillar lose per minute if a welding machine was down? I sure bet it would be an awful, awful lot of money. These manufactures don’t want a single welding machine in an assembly line to break down. Cause if one thing stops, the whole show stops.

Welding Carbon Steel Pipe To Stainless Steel Pipe
The standard welding processes such as TIG, MIG, and stick can be used to weld carbon steel pipe to stainless steel pipe. Standard carbon E-class welding electrodes such as E70 and 7018 can be used for MIG and stick welding respectively. However, using such welding electrodes on this type of welding, the welding quality may be compromised due to lack of chromium and nickel in the alloy. Hence, it is important to use high-carbon stainless steel electrodes to have a strong weld joint between the steel and stainless pipes. In particular, type 309 welding electrodes have the correct composition ensuring a proper weld with correct penetration and structural integrity. Similarly, the following steps must be used in this type of welding:
Step-1: Load or spool the MIG welding machine with the type 309 welding wire after removing already loaded welding wire used for other jobs.
Step-2: Replace the gas with the three part shielding gas mixture. It is necessary to mix the gas thoroughly before attaching the gas bottle to the MIG welder. The method used is to place the gas bottle on the floor horizontally roll it back and forth to mix the gas thoroughly. After that fix gas gauges to the three-part gas bottle.
Step-2: Now switch on the MIG welder and adjust the correct heat and wire speed levels. It is essential to note that the standard heat settings (used for carbon steel) will not be adequate for welding stainless steel as higher amount of heat is required to weld stainless steel. Best advise is to refer your welding guide to verify the initial test setting for your heat and wire speed. Once you adjust the heat levels, carry out a test pass with the welder to see that the settings are correct.
Step-3: Cut a piece of stainless steel pipe and a piece of carbon steel pipe with required lengths using a band saw. It is important to note that when cutting stainless steel using a band saw, reduce the speed and at the same time use cutting fluid to keep the band saw blade cool.
Step-4: You need to have 20-degree bevel on end of the cut pieces of pipe. This is done using a grinder by holding it at a constant 20 degrees to give you an even fill line. Make sure not to touch the grinding pipes because the pipe will get very hot during grinding.
Step-5: Once the pipe edges are grounded correctly, place one beveled end of the steel pipe against the beveled end of the stainless steel pipe allowing a welding gap about 1/16th of an inch between the two pieces of pipe. Then place a tack at the weld joint to keep the pipes together. Similarly, roll the pipes and provide a tack at one inch interval around the entire circumference of the pipe. ItÕs necessary to maintain the 1/16th inch weld gap right through out the circumference.
Step-6: Now start welding the pipes together. Start the weld from the stainless steel pipe and gradually pull the puddle onto the carbon steel pipe. Also, roll the MIG gun in a circle to flow the puddle to create good weld while watching the bottom of the weld to make sure proper penetration. During the welding process, if you note that the carbon pipe is under-cutting, it is necessary to reduce the heat on the MIG welder and repeat it.

Welding Equipments Authentic For Manufacturing Unit, Just The Best
One of the oldest forms of welding, gas welding is still extensively used nowadays for numerous applications. Using an open flame and combining oxygen and acetylene, this is a flexible and relatively forgiving welding process. While still used by many for welding, this expertise is used more and more for either cutting or brazing operations. Because of its manageability and flexibility via controlling or adjusting gas mixtures, the welder can execute many different operations with this type of welding equipment.
MIG welders, or Metal Inert Gas welders, get their name from the development of commencing gas around the welding curve. This gas, frequently carbon dioxide or argon or a combination of both, make sure a spotless background for the curve with fewer possibility of oxidation.
When considering purchasing a MIG welder, it is significant to make your mind up for what kinds of substances and what amount you plan to use the welder. One decision you need to think about in the beginning is where you will use the machine and what your options for electricity supply are.
Mainly auto shops have 220-volt current obtainable, while it is less accessible in suburban garages. There are some good 110V MIG welders available from Australia, but you will definitely be limited to the types of substances that you will be able to work with. One benefit of these minor machines is manageability. Not only are these machines lighter and less important, they also can utilize smaller gas tanks, which is good for storage space and progress.

Welding equipments for arc welding methods
Welding is mostly used for the combination processes i.e. arc, resistance, laser, electron beam, stud and orbital welding.
Weld controllers are required to help the processes used by these tools. Welding machines also work as aid to welding power source. There are also wide-ranging system to cutting machine, torch, feeders, cables, robots and feeders. This article describes the purpose of arc welding in detail.
Arc welding methods and welding machines
For melting the metals at welding point, Arc welding is utilizing welding power supply to produce an electric arc between the base material and an electrode. Arc welding equipments can use either direct current or alternating current, and consumable or non-consumable electrodes. Shielding gas protects welding region using some inert or semi-inert gas and evaporate wadding material. The method of arc welding is broadly recognized for low capital and running costs.
MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding and TIG welding are the two general specifications of Arc Welding. MIG is also acronym as MAG (metal active gas welding) and regarded as one of the mostly popular arc welding methods. MIG welding equipments uses various kinds of gas like pure carbon dioxide, argon gas and some time blend of both to complete the process.
TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) Welding is another latest welding process. This term stands for its utilization when shaping an arc in between the electrode and the item. Argon is use to inert gas portion in welding. TIG welding is slower compare to MIG and at the same time more expensive.
Arc welding has other methods like flux cored arc welding, gas metal arc welding, resistance seam welding, spot and shielded metal arc welding.
More welding measures serve by arc welding machines
Frictional welding is also a type of welding equipments. Examples of friction welding machines are hot plate welding, plastic welding, electron beam welding and Oxyfuel welding.
Despite the diversities in arc welding procedures, the purposes that are common is it all stops rust, serve varying actions and render water cooling uses. Of course heavy-duty equipment with engine driven generators is the best to fulfill these methods.
