Ford Escort Wing – 20 Minutes Max
A common problem with the Ford Escort, was damaged fenders. These were welded onto the body with mostly spot welds. The quickest way to remove and fit a new fender is as follows; Remove the front bumper and grille, remove the headlamp assembly from the side requiring the fender to be replaced, remove the indicator assembly from the same side. With an air chisel and a spot weld point, cut through the spot welds along the top seam of the fender and the inner front panel. Cut through the spot welds at the door post and the one at the bottom on the rocker panel. Cut through the mig welds on the front panel, either with an air chisel or 4″ grinder. Cut through the welds around the headlamp panel. The damaged panel should then come away easily.
Having ascertained that the new panel is the correct one for that particular vehicle (that may sound silly, but sometimes you can fit the wrong panel to the wrong car and not notice til it’s too late. I once saw somebody fit a two door door to a four door car, and not notice until he actually fitted the door and tried to close it. The hinges and everything except the window glass was the same.) It was quite amusing to see his face when he tried to close the door and it was like a foot too long.
You need to have prepared your new panel by sanding off the factory primer from the places which need to be welded. Also, (not in the case of our Escort here, but just so you know), bolted panels need to have their unreachable parts sprayed by the paintshop before fitting.
Anyway, offer up the new panel, and clamp it into position, you need to check the gaps between the door and the hood, when doing this, as they need to be both parallel and the right size. Also make sure that the panel is at the right level, i.e. not standing proud of the door or the hood or rocker panel. Once you are 110% sure that everything is in the correct place, you can start with the welding process. If you cleaned up your inner panels first, you should have no problem with the spot welder in that position. If you don’t have a spot welding machine, you can easily do this with gas, by brazing the joints, this only needs to be spot brazed at a similar frequency to the original spot welds. Once the panel is fully welded in all the right places, it’s then ready for repainting, which is a whole new story in itself. Maybe we’ll cover that in a future article.
I no longer do this for a living, but should you feel that you require some one to one tuition, please feel free to drop by with all the necessary kit to The Raft Restaurant where I’ll be pleased to help. http://www.theraftrestaurant.com

Plastic Welding, Industrial Heaters and Air Heaters
Hot air is being used in a wide variety of processes and techniques today. Hot air has a variety of uses in manufacturing processes for drying, heating, shrinking films, cutting, sealing, sterilizing and so on. Hot air systems are also used in the packaging industry to achieve a good finish and improve the appearance of the products.
Hot air welding is a technique that is used to weld plastic. A hot air system may have various nozzles and reflectors to concentrate this hot air on a surface. It is similar to welding metals, though the specific techniques are a different. The most popular plastic welder is a hot air welder that produces a jet of hot air. This softens both the parts to be joined and welded easily. This type of plastic welding is a used for items are like tanks, heat exchangers, and fittings. Plastic welders are essentially used to join thermoplastic polymers as this material softens on heating.
Plastic Welders and Plastic Welding Machines are used widely in the following industries:
Automotive
Medical
Textile and Films
Consumer Electronics
Packaging
Textile and Films
Food Processing
Industrial heaters like corrugation heaters, immersion heaters, space heaters, embedded heaters, ceramic band heaters and cartridge heaters are required for several manufacturing processes. There are various types of industrial heaters in use today as each type of heater has a range of uses. It is essential that the a heating mechanism used saves energy and achieves the correct results at the same time. The plastic, rubber, food and textile industries etc. require industrial heaters for production. The Industrial heaters are also known as industrial heating devices or industrial heating elements
Air heaters are mainly designed to heat air for a process. They may be used alone in combination with other processes. Baking, suppliers drying, laminating, metal working, packaging, plastic welding, preheating, sealing, soldering and fabric sewing are some processes that require a air heaters.
Dennis Van Grol is a Owner at Assembly Supplies, Co. We’re striving to become the world leader in sales & service for a plastic welding tools, industrial heaters and air heaters.

Brown’s Gas
Yull Brown (originally of Hungary) now of Australia developed a gas which now has become the most sought after discovery as many researchers are seeing it as a potent source to materialize the legendary “Water Car” owing to its unique properties. This gas has been named as Brown’s Gas after the name of its discoverer.
Brown’s Gas is developed from water. Water is converted into a safe stoichiometric mixture of Hydrogen and Oxygen. The flame of Brown’s gas under naked eyes is almost colorless but if proper lighting conditions are applied then it would be seen to possess a small blue cone with a longer pale red-blue extension. The overall “body” of the flame has different layers called “mantles”. Ordinary flames like our very common Bunsen Burner Flame are formed by a set of explosions which means that each component of the flame is a result of small “explosion”. On the contrary flame of Brown’s Gas is formed as a result of “implosions”. The combustion of the gas takes place in the “blue cone” region .The flame of Brown’s Gas on application to an element or substance increases its temperature due to a unique property of Brown’s Gas absent in other gas flames which is called as “interactive combustion property”. The flame of this gas has a peculiar property of changing its temperature on application to different substances. When normally burnt in air the temperature was measured in the range of 264-269F;when applied to a brick recorded a temperature of 3100F (which means that it should be handled with care in laboratories or else one mistake and the entire Lab is gone); and when applied to a tungsten wire recorded 6000°C.
Brown’s gas has many characteristic properties, some of which are:
1. Used in a car where the gas combusts and emits water vapor as the only effluent in its exhaust.
2. A solid-state refrigeration unit in which temperature could instantly be changed
3. A room heater fueled with the gas will carbonize a strip of paper held near it but not create flames or smoke.
4. Used in an acetylene torch it singed hairs from a welder’s forearm but didn’t burn the skin.
5. Flame from this gas can glaze concrete thereby making it impervious to acids and other corrosives and greatly extending the concrete’s useful lifespan.
6. Steel, after treatment with the flame, is much more impervious to rust and before treatment.
The most important application of Brown’s Gas is to make water an energy source and using water as fuel in cars. As already told when Brown’s Gas is sparked it forms water by implosion. This property can thus be used to replace the existing fuel run cars with “Water Cars” and make the world a cleaner and healthier place to live in.

Alabama Residents Choose a Structural Welding Career
What is a Structural Welder?
Structural welders are classified as ironworkers by the U.S. Department of Labor, even though the vast majority of the material welded is structural steel. Structural welders help construct buildings, bridges, and other facilities that require structural steel. This can include everything from steel girders tying the 85th floor of a high rise to a support column, to a decorative metal staircase in a museum entranceway. Alabama welder training is a great way to get started in this exciting career.
Becoming an Ironworker
The most common and recommended route to becoming an ironworker is to do a formal apprenticeship that typically lasts about 3-4 years. The apprenticeship combines on-the-job training with formal classes that can be obtained through a local union or community college. Apprenticeship opportunities can be found at a nearby office of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Iron Workers Union. In Alabama, this union has offices and training facilities in Birmingham, Sheffield, and Mobile. These apprenticeships provide the basic ironworker training, but not whats needed to become a structural welder.
Alabama Welder Training
There is currently a skilled welder shortage in the United States. For people who are looking to be retrained in a new career, welding may be a viable option. This is a career that can often lead to union benefits and/or job stability not found in other industries. An Alabama structural welder degree is the first step on the way to this career.
The basic physical requirements include being in good condition, having above average agility, and little or no fear of heights, since working with heavy materials at considerable height with nothing more than a safety harness is a common requirement. Apprenticeship applicants also need to be 18 years of age or older and most ironworkers live in urban areas because job opportunities are more common in these locations.
Expected Earnings
Ironworkers in general earn between 12 and 35 dollars an hour depending on experience, with a median income somewhere around 20, but the hourly pay of structural welders is generally at the high end of this range because of the additional education and training required for this subspecialty. The need for iornworkers is expected to grow by 12% for the foreseeable future, with the greatest demand occurring in the southern and western states.

The Blackberry Torch – Is It Worth Buying?
A quick look at the recently released Blackberry Torch set our hearts burning with desire. Especially for business executives, the design of the smartphone is sufficient to dazzle your eyes and trigger your curiosity.
The Blackberry Torch carries the distinctive trademark of Blackberry mobile phones through its dashing black color. However, a combination of the elegant curved edges and the white and dark orange colors results in a modern look that will easily capture the attention of the younger professionals and teenagers. The Torch is a similar size to the Blackberry Bold 9700. Although there is a thickness difference of 2.5mm, you’ll benefit from a full-sized touchscreen in addition to a slide out keyboard.
The Blackberry Torch features a full-sized 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors. Although the resolution of 360 x 480 pixels is not as appealing as the other high-end smartphones, it works fine with the mainstream users who are non-movie fanatics. To be fair, the full-sized touchscreen and physical keyboard combination carries a huge advantage over majority of Blackberry smartphones. The full screen web browsing experience and “Pinch and zoom” capability will drive most Blackberry fans crazy.
RIM deserves praise for successfully introducing the visual experience without sacrificing any of their key advantages. As with the previous Blackberry smartphones, you’ll find the optical trackpad and their signature QWERTY keyboard. The familiar keyboard effectively improves your email and text messaging capabilities, just like the other Blackberry smartphones. Just before you draft your email, slide the display open to reveal the full QWERTY keyboard.
The Blackberry Torch comes along with GPS, 3G (HSDPA and HSUPA), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a 5 MP camera. It is a surprise that great emphasis was placed on the Torch’s camera. It allows video recording (640 x 480), continuous autofocus, LED flash, image stabilization and 11 camera modes. The only missing capability is HD video recording. The phone also includes 4GB of internal memory and supports up to 32GB of maximum capacity (256MB on the BB9700). As for the battery life, you’ll get 5 hours and 40 minutes of talktime and 30 hours of music.
Although the qualities of the new Torch sends Blackberry fans screaming for joy, RIM is definitely unsatisfied. Why else would they introduce the Blackberry 6 OS to the smartphone? The new OS6 features comprehensive changes that will place immense pressure on Blackberry’s competitors. Some of the changes come from feedback that “the Blackberry doesn’t render websites accurately” and “the menus look outdated”. As a result, there is new web browser that features tabbed browsing and an intuitive graphical menu that comes along with modern icons. There is also a social feed application that constantly displays new tweets and Facebook status updates in a timeline.
The Blackberry version 6 OS wouldn’t be complete without the ingenious universal search function. Simply by keying in your keywords, your Blackberry Torch will be able to search and bring your required app, email, file or message to you. Just imagine the amount of time you can save!
It is needless to mention how much difference the Blackberry 6 OS has made to the Torch. Although critics might comment that the Torch is still not a mean multimedia machine, it is by far the best Blackberry business phone with extended multimedia capabilities. What do you think?

Pipe Welding?3 Basics You Have to Know About
Pipe welding is no easy task. After all, you are usually using it to join very large pieces of metal or plastic together–sometimes, so that very powerful chemicals and gases can pass through them. However, pipe welding is an incredibly popular way to manufacture things because it is the most cost-effective way to join pipes together. It can be done for a variety of projects, both big and small.
If you want to become a pipe welding pro, you will have to start by understanding the ins and outs of some of the basics, like:
1.Butt welding
If you need to join two piece of metal or plastic together, than you need to know about butt welding. In fact, butt welding has become a popular welding process because it is easy to do and it rarely requires any kind of post-welding work like other welding techniques do.
During this process, the two pieces are laid side-by-side and welded along a single seam.If your butt welding is done correctly, you will never see a seam, and you will never see any type of brittleness or corrosion develop. Instead, it will just look like these two pieces naturally fit together!
2.CNC machining equipment
An abbreviation for “computer numerical control”, CNC machining equipment is vital to the pipe welding world. This equipment can be pre-programmed with a computer to do the work, instead of having an actual human being do it.CNC machining equipment can work faster than a person can, and it can simulate all of the movements that a human can make –by being able to move machines, equipment, and tools in virtually every direction.
As an added benefit, CNC machining equipment it never gets tired, like an actual person does.In fact, these machines can run 24/7 if you need them to! They will literally keep running until you tell them to stop.
3.High pressure fittings
Available in virtually any variety – from elbows, to couplings, to crosses, to tees, to filters – high pressure fittings are another important part of pipe welding.
By having fittings that can easily adapt to very high amounts of pressure, you can rest easy knowing that they will be able to hold their own against fast-moving fluids, oils, and chemicals. When you have weaker fittings, flowing fluids can break them down– leading to leaks and spills. Instead, high pressure fittings can be used to connect pipes together in all sorts of situations.
Richard A. Manfredi has written about www.procladgroup.com.Proclad Group is a global manufacturer of internally clad line pipe, fittings, flanges, vessels, and other well-head components. Specializes in pipe fabricating, including induction bending, pipe cladding, and weld overlay.

Carpenter Jobs in Chicago Illinois
Here is some details on carpenter jobs in Chicago. Learn what it was, what it is and what it will be like working as a carpenter in the windy city.
Way back in the day Chicago had great fire that pratically burned the hole city down. It was an unfortunate incident that happened in the city. But behind every cloud there is a silver lining. Carpentry jobs were at a high demand many buildings had to be rebuilt from the ground up. Im sure it was an exciting time for carpenters and construction businesses in that area and people that lived in this great state.
Shortly after the fires carpenters, iron workers, electricians, labourers, teamsters all got together and built the first skyscrapper in in the United States in the year of 1885. Which was a long time ago, I personally would not want to be the test dummmy/carpenter on that job. I am sure there were people that were very proud to be on that constuction job.
To speed it up almost a hundred years later all the trades got together and built the sears tower which is the tallest building in the western hemisphere. It is a awsome building, also that is one project that I would have loved to work on. To this day carpenters are renovating floors in the building.
Carpenter jobs in Chicago have a bright future in the windy city. At this moment jobs are at a slow pace but resources say that the construction market will be picking up soon which means more work for carpenters. This city is huge and even though the economy is slow I know for a fact there is carpenters working in those huge buildings getting jobs done and making good money doing them.
I am a union carpenter out of Plainfield New Jersey. I love doing carpentry work and I love helping others in carpentry as well. For more info visit http://www.carpentrypages.com
