Look at This…TIG Welding Techniques
TIG welding offers a lot of advantages over MIG welding, arc and oxygen-acetylene welding. Kevin shows how he gets the most out of his TIG welder – and reveals some TIG welding tricks along the way.

London Book of the Dead
Album Description
The Real Tuesday Weld, a.k.a. British singer-songwriter and audio provocateur Stephen Coates has charmed critics and audiences alike by wedding the suggestive hiss of vintage vinyl and ancient radio transmissions to the latest samples, loops and glitchy beats, creating a signature sound he calls “antique beat”. London Book of the Dead may be a startlingly morose title, and it’s true that the album’s lyrical concerns drift dreamily between such weighty topics as death, religious faith, honesty, drugs, and disease. But even when the going gets dark and introspective, there’s an element of whimsy that is never far from the surface. “Last Words” is possibly the most accessible track. This catchy “electro-pop” tune is now being used extensively in the highly anticipated film Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist.
Arc Welding with 3 Car Batteries (Tutorial & Demo)
Emergency welding technique using 3 car batteries wired in series. Knowing how to do this may just save you from haivng to leave your rig out in the middle of nowhere. If you’re going to go wheeling you need to know how to save your own butt. AAA doesn’t respond if your 20 miles off the beaten path. This is the second video that I’ve done on this subject. The first video showed me doing an acutal trail repair, but wasn’t very detailed. I had so many responses from people that didn’t understand what was going on, or for some reason thought it wasn’t possible, that I decided to do a video in a controlled environment and show exactly what welding with car batteries is all about.
Welding – Building A Go-Kart Overview Video
The first video thats related to this is the entire video. this is just a demo.
heres the Specs:
This project was done for a graduating grade at my high school. the grade on it was a 98% and i got a 95 on my speech (which was 12 minutes long.) this was the video i showed during my presentation.
this project took a total of 2 to 3 months of work, and i started with ordering a set of go-kart plance from Don’s DIY Den (diyden.net.) The go-kart was origionally designed for a 5 horsepower motor, but i put in a monster 18 horsepower twin cylinder motor. it wasnt the BEST idea because the ngine is on the side and it is kind of off weight. other than that and the crappy breaks, there are no real problems with it.
The frame used mostly .095″ one inch square tubing, and for the braces and brackets, i used 1/4″ sheet metal.
All of the parts in which i did not build or find from friends, i obtained from northern tool (northerntool.com.) some parts like the front wheels and steering wheel, i got from friends or yard sales. i got the engine from my stepbrother Tony moore who i thank dearly. the engine is $1400 brand new. it was used in Iraq to power a giant frige. tony bought it to grind up horse poop. and i got it for free.
This thing started up the first pull and yes, i know the mixure is off, but once we got this thing working, it topped out at about 50 MPH, andhad real nice handling. not that great of a turning radious, but good handling.
the clutch was actually a belt clutch and i welded on a sprocket, and it worked perfectly. it is a single speed which is similar to second gear. im DYING for a two pully centrifugal clutch system so i can get all my horsepowers out. either that or some shifter clutch five speed
i have done substantial work since this video. the front shocks DO look bent. theyre not. single A-arm suspentions do move around like that. i admit it does look dumb, SO i put some real beefy shocks up front, and it did give it a four or five inch lift. and now it doesnt look bent anymore. it went from lookling like

Rob and i welded on it using some TIG a lot of MIG, but mostly flux chore welding. i used PAC to cut some pieces and i used a hydraulic sheer to cut and bend a lot of the bracings, mounts, and brackets.
this project took a tootal of $700 dollars. its a good price considering the fact that the motor is $1300 brand new.

#60 – Top Rated (This Month) – Autos & Vehicles
#48 – Most Discussed (This Month) – Autos & Vehicles
(UPDATE 11/1/07)- I found this project to be a big dissapointment to my highschool career. its honestly one of my biggest accomplishments i will ever complete in my lifetime, and i was not accredited properly. the school had an award ceremony for the best senior projects. it was narrowed down to the special edd kids, the dance kids welding stuff, and so on. it was completely rediculous. a girl got an award for learning how to dance. a kid got an award for learning how to play drums. every single award was like that. no big accomplishments at all. and no award for me. all this was done with my bare hands. i put more effort into this than most of thie kids didn on theirs in the 3000 student school. and the schools system wasnt professional enough to even notice my project.
even though i felt like it was a horrible waste of time when i didnt get any awards, its still an accomplishment for me.
the gokart is currently sitting out in my backyard. it still runs good, but i still need to add one or two support rails on the frame. the torque of the motor and the poorly designed chain guard snapped the chain. once i get off my lazy but, i might fix it.

Stillwater: A Novel
Product Description
In 1938, five towns in western Massachusetts were flooded to create a huge reservoir.
In this beautifully rendered novel of coming of age, of loyalty and betrayal, good and evil, and of bravery and an abiding love, Stillwater marks a significant literary step forward for William Weld in what has already emerged as a notable writing career.
Fifteen-year-old Jamieson, who lives on a farm with his ironic and strong-willed grandmother, watches life unravel for the men and women whose world is about to be obliterated. Some take refuge in whiskey or denial, some give in to despair, some preach hypocrisy — and some decide to turn a profit on their fellow citizens’ misfortunes.
Jamieson falls in love for the first and hardest time with the unforgettable Hannah, a dreamy girl from the poor farm. She enriches his sense of what is being lost by recalling lives that were lived in the Valley during the French and Indian War, the insurrection of Daniel Shays, and the War between the States. Jamieson feels in his bones that the living are surrounded by the dead.
As the seasons turn during the towns’ final year, events spin out of control. Church services are supplanted by pagan rituals in the woods, public morality is undone by the exposure of a “disorderly house,” and any semblance of a normal life on the farms is undermined by the impending flood. In September, the hurricane of 1938 completes the Valley’s destruction.
As Jamieson is losing the world of his boyhood, it is Hannah who opens his eyes to wider possibilities and helps him taste a measure of revenge on the men who sold out the Valley towns. It is not so difficult, after all, for the living and the dead to change places.
Weld has been praised by the New York Times for his “writer’s eye and ear.” Stillwater illuminates nature’s magnificence, man’s inhumanity, people’s courage, and the destiny of place that is characteristic of America.

I Lucifer
Album Description
This modern-day electronic cabaret singer-songwriter, whose given name is Stephen Coates, has crafted a unique new sound, informed by Al Bowlly, Serge Gainsbourg, Ennio Morricone as well as modern electronica. I, Lucifer is the imaginary soundtrack to the best selling novel of the same name by Glen Duncan, about the devil returning to earth for a second shot at repentance and mortality. The enhanced CD features the Sundance Online Film Festival award winning animated video for “Bathtime In Clerkenwell.”
In the U.K. where the first album track has been released on 10″ vinyl, it has become an unexpected dance floor hit, with people like Coldcut, Groove Armada and Fatboy Slim singing its praisesAmazon.com
Contemporary pop music often deals with its burgeoning past by pretending to ignore it, all the while frantically picking over the debris to cynically reinvent the wheel. But the U.K.’s The Real Tuesday Weld (a.k.a. singer/composer/multi-instrumentalist Stephen Coates) triumphs here by boldly synthesizing a context of intimate ’20s and ’30s cabaret jazz, then deftly informing it with subtle touches of modern electronica. That it remains much closer in spirit to the former than the latter makes it a compelling, consistently satisfying listen. Taking the form of a mock soundtrack to novelist Glen Duncan’s amusingly warm tale of the devil returning to earth for an ill-advised comeback, Coates’ cabaret electronique draws on influences as diverse as Django Reinhardt, Serge Gainsbourg, Tom Waits, and Al Bowlly (Coates claims the ’30s London crooner inspired him in a dream), TRTW spins breathy, endlessly moody tales of bittersweet romance, all of it informed by a dry, graceful wit. The dizzy, French tongue-tripper “Bathtime in Clerkenwell” quickly became an unlikely Euro club hit; guest performers include the Tiger Lillies’ Martyn Jacques (“Someday (Never)”), Pinkie McClure (the cinematic “One More Chance”), and David Guez (“La Bete et La Bete”‘s Gallic throwback folk-pop). A lot of unfocused musical ambition gets passed off as cutting-edge post-modernism, but the inviting, time-warped conceit Coates/TRTW have concocted here challenges the very notion of such constraining labels. –Jerry McCulley
