harbor freight welder video request

harbor freight welder over a year later. This is a requested video for stevo928, he wanted to see it weld thicker metal. I made the metal thicker as well as cold, dirty rusty, wet and painted.

@taystew That would be awsome. If anyone does send me a copy so I can use it for my intros.

“and… here’s me tryna… tryna beat it with a hammer” lol somebody remix that 4:39

@dylanz333 The best vids are when I film someone else. with my camera it works best if I get far enough away for the digital zoom to kick in a little and then the camera somehow adjusts to the bright light. use the manual zoom and a tripod.

    Hey, Great videos.
    One question…
How do you get the close ups of you welding?
    Thanks

  • valveman12:

Are you using DCEN or DCEP? I have the same welder and new to arc so I’m not making great welds yet. I can get a bead but not as smooth as yours. Perhaps I need to change to 5/64 6013. I’m using 1/16 6013.

    I enjoyed the video.

    Hi Freddy,
Thanks for the video, very helpful and informative.

  • offroadingmachine007:

@freddytk421 okay, i have the harbor freight 90 amp flux core welder, and i use the lincoln wire from home depot cause the harbor freight wire sucks

  • freddytk421:

@offroadingmachine007 usually lincoln or whatever they have at the welding supply store. the harbor freight ones are not too bad.

  • offroadingmachine007:

what make rod do u use? lincoln, miller, what?

  • freddytk421:

@warlyeduvane I wanted to let the camera see the fire.

  • warlyeduvane:

acceptable weld appearance even wrong travel angle, it should be dragging not pushing.

  • freddytk421:

@TheHossHobart Thanks for the tip I did that already on the next video I made with this thing and explained that. Thanks again.

  • TheHossHobart:

Next time, drag the rod. If you drag the rod you get more penetration : )

    Sweet

  • mrwiggles2:

    Awesome

  • freddytk421:

@torque395 plus miller is a really cool color. LOL I have a miller generator and wire feeder. They are really good. Much better than this dinky little box but honestly I use this way more than them because it’s so small and is 110v. Thanks for the comments.

  • torque395:

@freddytk421 Yes I know that miller makes hobart but the miller has more bells and whistles. I’m thinking I can get a used millermatic 185 for about $500. Id take a hobart too, tho i think the miller would be a lil easier to use.

  • freddytk421:

@torque395 Hobart and miller are the same thing but hobarts are really inexpensive at Tractor Supply sometimes.

  • torque395:

Thats pretty impressive. I cant do that with my stupid old craftsman craftsman 185, although I think part of my problem is the harbor freight welding rods and the fact that I am running the welder off of a generator, and on top of that the generator is marginally big enough to run the welder anyways. I am looking into a clarke or miller MIG welder so I dont have all that flux to mess with.

I saw someone on here (youtube) that put a tig torch on it and it looks really cool. I have read some things on various forums about putting a tig on it as well.

  • pbgd3:

Just picked one of these up the other day and have been outside all afternoon dinking around with it. I’m liking her so far, some issues starting the quik strike 1/16″ 6013′s on lower amps, no problems running them higher up. Need to go get some other electrodes to try out.

Also has anyone done any of these Tig Torch additions to these welders?

  • freddytk421:

Glad you like it. I love mine. I kinda wish I could punch the people that doubt it. Lol @jvsee12345

  • jvsee12345:

At first I could only burn 7014 1/16″ quick strike. Then 6013 1/16″ and 5/64″.
Now 6011 3/32″ and 7018″ seem easy and I like them better, but at the beggining i thought it was impossible or that I had a bad welder.

  • freddytk421:

Thanks, I used 332 at first and they were fine but I really like the 564 on it @jvsee12345

  • jvsee12345:

I have this welder and i can burn 3/32 6011, 3/32 7018 but it took a lot of practice.
    Nice video.
