How would you weld in truck bed replacement wheel panels?

Would you mig weld in a stitch like fashion around edge, gind smoth, and bondo to finish? How much of the old rusted panel would you cut out?

if you are buying a new replacement panel you should cut it to fit the replacement panel if you are just going to replace it with sheet metal cut it till you get good solid weldable metal.

why weld it at all?? there are new products out there that you can use without welding, its called body panel adhesive and it works great, you can buy various drying timed adhesives from 2 to 20 minute set times, cut out the old one and leave a glue edge and simply put the new panel on, the glue will squeeze out and you can use a squeegee to blend the edges smooth. this is strong stuff, chevrolet has been using it for years to hold the door hinges on their trucks, ive never seen one fall off yet. any auto parts store should be able to get it for you and auto body supply stores should have it in stock. no weld, easy as pie.

the spot weld in, they don’t have a solid weld on them, if you do that you,ll warp them, just use a mig welder and spot weld them in,or borrow someones spot welder, putting a steady weld on them makes the metal shrink and warps them, good luck.
