Whats The Difference Between A Welder And A Boilermaker?
im looking for an apprenticeship , and im wondering what exactly is the difference between these 2 jobs because in boilermaker jobs they said you do welding in it ? and thats what i want to do , i want to weld.. but if boilermakers weld , then what do welders do ?
PLASTIC WELDING SAFETY
PLASTIC WELDING SAFETY
Work area should well ventilated. You may want to weld in the garage due to some plastics do have an odor to them. When welding them. Remember the plastic welder- is very hot it can burn you or start a fire. So you must be careful when using your plastic welder. 1. So don’t touch the barrel or the tip of the welder with your hand. When welder is hot. 2. Don’t have any combustibles laying around your work area as they may catch on fire.
Keep your work area clean. (papers, wood, gas can’s, put everything away that you think could catch on fire or melt. If the welder would come in contact with it.) When using the plastic welder make sue that the plastic welder rest is set up and you are able to use it. This will be usefull if you have to move the part that your working on around. Have all your tools that you will be using set up and ready for you when needed.
Plastic welder with stand
welding rods that you will be using to weld with.
wire mesh if needed (this is used for added strength of the weld.
plastic parts cleaned and ready to weld.(you can clean the parts with soap and water)
Now when your finished welding
Put the welder on stand and turn it off. Then let the welder cool down.
Let the plastic item that was just welded cool down.
Put all your welding rods back up and if the welder is cool. Put the welder and stand back up also.

How to repair a latch (handle) on a shotgun shell dry box
HOW TO REPAIR A DRY BOX HANDLE USING A PLASTIC WELDER
COST TO REPLACE NEW $17.99 + S&H $5.95 TOTAL $23.94
COST OF REPAIR .50 CENTS
Using a plastic welder. I was able to save $23.44
On this repair the latch has a crack on it. Which will not make the box water proof.
WORK AREA:
Work area must clean and well ventilated. Setup plastic welder Set welder to preheat usually takes about 15 minutes to heat up.
SET UP:
Plastic parts should be clean. {soap and water} Need to find out what type of plastic that we are working with. Usually look at the back of the part. Sometimes there will be a symbol telling you what kind of plastic you’re working with. Unfortunately in this case there is no symbol. When there is no symbol we have 2 choices. 1) Try to weld different types of welding rods to the plastic to see which one sticks the best. 2) When I don’t know the type of plastic I’m working with. I like to use Fiber-Flex welding rod. {I have not had any problems with Fiber-Flex sticking to any plastic. Set up your plastic parts that need welded. Set your welder to the right heat setting for the plastic being welded. Set your welding rods out and in reach. Have a bowl of water with a rag or a spray bottle. { I like to use a spray bottle because using a rag will make your weld rough} This is just to cool the plastic if it gets too hot and starts to deform.
PLASTIC WELD THE PART
At the crack make a V-groove a long the entire crack. Fill in the V-groove with your filler rod {welding rod} Cut out steel mesh to cover the crack. Melt the steel mesh into the plastic. You may have to use a small tool to hold the steel mesh down into the plastic. Until the plastic cools a little 2 or 4 seconds. Using Fiber-Flex welding rod cover the steel mesh. Smooth it out as much as possible. This will cut down on sanding time.
FINISHING THE PART
Sand the part just like you would do with wood. I start with 60 grit sandpaper and finish with 180 grit sandpaper. Now you may have to paint your repair too You will need to get paint made for plastic. Most stores carry the paint. I used clear gloss paint for this repair. Please go to our site kandjwarehouse.com.

Overview of Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding
There are many types of welding that are available to learn today and MIG is one of those types. This type of welding dates back to 1940s when it was discovered to weld aluminum and other types of non-ferrous metals.
Many people refer to MIG welding as GMAW or gas metal arc welding. Often these two terms are used interchangeably. This type of welding is considered to be automatic or semi-automatic because it happens quickly. The process works to join two pieces of metal by continuously passing a wire through a welding gun. The wire is connected to a direct current and then passed through the gun with an inert gas like Argon.
The wire acts as an electrode and the inert gas acts as a shield as the welding is performed. This means that contaminates are air borne instead of being put into the weld zone.
An MIG welder will use this method to meld metal quicker than regular stick welding especially when they want to weld soft metals like aluminum. When this method was first started the inert gas was too expensive to do the process all the time. Today, carbon dioxide can be used instead of the more expensive gases and makes this method more cost effective.
Advantages of MIG Welding
There are several advantages of MIG welders:
* It is faster than traditional methods of welding and it produces longer, continuous welds.
* It produces a cleaner weld with less splatter.
* It can be used with a wide variety of alloys and metals which makes it a versatile elder process.
Disadvantages of MIG Welding:
Although this is a very specialized process that works efficiently for many projects there are a few disadvantages that include:
* The welding equipment is complex and bulky to use.
* The equipment needs a source of continuous current and a constant feeding of the wire through the gun.
* It is a very different process than traditional welding so there is a learning curve for all welders who use this technique.
* Because of the inert gas, MIG welding cannot be used an open area because the wind would cause the gas to cause more problems for the MIG welder.
MIG welding has become very important in many industries because of its ability to weld metals quickly. You will see this type of welding done in many industries that include automobile industry and nuclear industries.

How Much Do I Charge For Cutting And Welding Steel?
I have been welding for a while now with a mig/flux core welder and I am pretty good at it. I have been getting a lot of requests from people to do some welding work for them on the side but I have no clue how much I should be charging them. Any ideas on a fair rate?
Introduction to Diesel generators
A diesel generator is a combination of diesel engine with an electrical generator to generate electric energy.
Most people know that diesel engines in automobiles provide higher mileage, making it an obvious choice for heavy-duty transportation and equipment. Diesel is priced heavily when compared to gas, because it has a higher energy density and more energy can be extracted from diesel when compared to the same volume of gas. Diesel fuel has heavier, oilier and has a higher boiling point when compared to gas. When you compare petrol, gas and other fuels, diesel is least flammable. When compared to gas generators, this generator requires less maintenance. Being rugged and reliable, it can work for long hours at a stretch. Modern diesel generators can overcome noise issues. Onsite fuel delivery is available. These generators are used in many industries like mining, telecommunications, marine and agriculture applications, hospitals, industrial plants and commercial buildings. Although they are built for large loads, modern diesel generator is designed to comfortably handle small loads without wet stacking. These are available in single phase and there phase power generators.
You can find different types of diesel generators in the market. Small portable diesel generators range from 1kva to 10kva, while larger industrial generators range from 8kva -30kva for homes, small shops & offices up to 2000kva used for large office complexes, factories and power stations. These are used as a back up source for outdoor recreational or camping activities. Diesel generators have certain important features like: engine block is an important part of the diesel generators and the four cycle, liquid cooled model helps to improve the life of diesel generator producing less noise. There is little difference between air cooled and liquid cooled diesel generators. Air cooled engines require a tremendous amount of air. Liquid cooling offers a quieter operation and more even temperature control. There are various brands available in the market, but the wise decision would be to choose a generator from the leading brands as they come with the right configuration and warranties.
Diesel generator is most reliable and maintenance-free of all types: no ignition systems, carburetors, nor spark plugs. The fuel can be stored in large tanks; it is less flammable than other fuels and is the safest fuel to store. Diesel generators are widely used in places where grid is not available or as emergency power source if the grid fails.
