Is It Possible To Make An Arc Welder With A Car Battery, Jumper Cables, And Electrodes?
Is it possible to make an arc welder with a car battery, jumper cables, and electrodes?
I would think it’s pretty much the same concept. I’ve never welded before, but the thought just popped in my mind and I thought I would ask it.

Yes , very simple. But , you won’t be building the golden gate bridge with it. I have seen a welding machine made from a series of 6 or more batteries connected together in a series and it was powerful. Here is a link.http://www.wonderhowto.com/wonder-of-the…
Yes. Many off roaders keep thin rod for fixing their toys while out in the boondocks. It works in a pinch. You have to keep the arc away from the battery of course since it will have some hydrogen gas in it from charging. Never do it while your motor is running since the surge may take out your alternator.
40 volts at 100 amps
You might have to string the batteries. 100 amps is a lot of current flow.
