How Big Of A Generator Do I Need To Power My Stick Welder?

I just got a Lincoln Electric 225 amp arc welder and I don’t have a shop or garage with a 230 volt plug so I was just wondering if I can get a generator that could power this thing so I can use it.

yea that is ok but inefficient. if you want to weld at 225 amps AC you will need like a 10000-12000 watt generator. might as well buy a gas powered welder maybe. you can use the lower amp settings with a smaller generator of course.

Yes, you can. Check the max current draw (Amps) on the welder, and simply find a generator that has more output than that. It need not be huge, many service trucks in this area have them, a regular five or 8 horse power motor hooked to a generator with enough juice to do it can be rather small.
