How Do You Stick Two Pieces Of Metal Together Without A Welder?

I am building a bike but i need to replace the brake holders. I need to cut it off and then stick it one inch down the frame. How do I do this without a welder?

You are always going to want an epoxy when dealing with metal on metal. I suggest using J-B Weld. It is a great product that I have been selling for years. Customers are always pleased.
    Good luck fixing your bike!

Without knowing what brand or type, style, etc., etc, of bicycle you have, amongst the probably 10,000 different models, it would be very tough to tell you how to attach something that we don’t know anything about to something else we don’t know anything about. Give us some more details, take a picture, something>!!!!!!!!
And Max, neat answer, he asked for a solution without using a welder and you tell him to take it to a welding shop. That’s using your head.

Depending on the thickness of the 2 metals (Tek screws) go to any local hardware store they are self tapping screws design to screw metal to metal. They should work otherwise i would suggest drilling a couple of 1/8 inch holes an use rivets it will give it a cleaner look or use an epoxy for metal.

bottom line is you can’t. there is nothing you can do that will hold up on a bike like a weld. thats why those pieces are welded.

  • Zulu:

JB WELD, sold at hardware and automotive stores everywhere.

  • jm:

take it to a welding shop. For a few dollars, they will re-weld it.

  • Max Schnell:

You don’t. If I understand what you’re trying to do, then bolts or screws will simply not do the job.
