This is tutorial for vertex welding with edit mesh. Its an oldie but a goodie. Edit poly is the way to go these days, but the principle discussed here, does apply to Edit Poly as well. The operation is similar, but you are using “Target Weld” instead.

id depends wich dvd you got..
i have older dvd of 3ds max 9 and it doesn’t work so i have to download some patch or shit like that

Thx goot tut, but it’s not “easy” just go and weld verts that you dont need, you must be careful to have all quads.

right click on the object > convert to editable mesh or polygon

3DS Max 2008 works perfectly fine on Vista x32.

Maybe you need to set your color depth do 16 bit.

I got it working too! Right click on the icon and go to properties>compatiblity and run in Windows XP mode.

for some reason, i cant see my vertex when i go into vertex mode. now i cant do anything.

“i did that before just with collapse, so if i wanted the weld effect, i had to drop the vertex virtually on same position as the other one and collapse, soooo waste of time”
